TED Global 2017 was an important homecoming to the African continent, and a ton of work went into creating an authentic experience, from the curation of talks to the music to the graphics and stage design. The most recent event was held 27-30 August 2017 in Arusha, Tanzania.
Our Director, Chad Outten said:
TED Global 2017 was a memorable event. Based on the talks, I was left with a true sense that Africa has the builders, truth-tellers and catalysts to overcome its challenges. Moreover, Africa, in some cases, such as mobile phone, mobile money, agriculture and solar power, is well-positioned to leapfrog its challenges with solutions that are ahead of the rest of the world. It was a great privilege to meet up with fellow TED-sters who are committed to making the world a better place.
Presentations at TED Global 2017 were organised into the following session themes:
- A new map
- Pathmakers
- Leapfrog
- A hard look
- Repatterning
- Urban 3.0
- Power up
- Manifesto
